Beeswax is a wax produced by honey bees of the genus Apis. It is made up of around 284 different compounds mainly a variety of long chain alkanes, acids, esters, poly esters and hydroxy esters, but the exact composition varies with location. We aim to ensure that hives are not placed near crops sprayed with pesticides and don’t use chemicals ourselves. Our beeswax can be said to be organically produced but as with all honey and beeswax in the UK we cannot call it certified organic because of not knowing for sure where the bees have flown in their locality
Beeswax has a melting point of 60 degrees Celsius.
